Governance Matters is a series of FREE Zoom sessions focused on governance principles for boards or committees of NFP organisations in New Zealand.

Many volunteer members of committees or boards struggle to find the time to develop their skills in governance or have topics they would like to explore further but can’t devote a whole or half day to attending a workshop. These workshops are designed to be delivered in 1-1.5-hour sessions on very specific topics. Participants can attend one or more as needed. Each workshop will give basic principles and provide time for questions. 

 

Session 2: Legal responsibilities of Boards

In today’s highly changing environment, some of the biggest changes are the increasing legal expectations on Boards and committees. This workshop will explore what are the legal obligations of being on a Board. What do you need to know and where is the limit of legal responsibility as a Board member?
