Shaz is passionate about working alongside people, learning and growing with whānau, tamariki, tangata whenua and tangata tiriti to help make our communities a better place to be and to see people reach their potential. Shaz has worked alongside young people and whanau for over 30yrs, is a lifelong learner of te reo me ōna tikanga and lover of kapahaka. Shaz’s love for experiencing other cultures has taken her around the world living and working in a range of educational settings from Te Atatū to London to Wuxi, China.
She is an educator with over 30 years of teaching and management experience in Early Childhood, and more recently the Primary School sector where she has worked extensively with tamariki, whānau, and community to develop kaupapa Māori / environmental initiatives within the schools and centres she has worked. She is currently a Professional Development Facilitator working with Early Childhood Teachers. She has also been involved in Tiriti education in a variety of forms and is passionate about working towards social justice and equity in Aotearoa.
