In this session we will cover
For the past ten years Hilary Star Foged has been working with leaders and managers from community-based organisations, including schools, exploring with them both the significance and history of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and how to build relationship and accountability in partnership with Māori, in Aotearoa today. As Pakeha, this is an absolutely essential conversation, identifying how colonisation has impacted all of us and how we work towards a truly decolonised Aotearoa.
To quote a participant of a recent workshop facilitated by Hilary: “I have been involved in other Treaty workshops years ago and I came away feeling so loaded with guilt and a feeling of helplessness that I felt I never really moved on from there. This workshop has really enabled me to look far more deeply at the possibilities and actual practical application of the Treaty for us as a community based organisation in building partnership with Māori .“
